Jesse Jackson, Jr. to Back Kirk in IL Senate Race?

Alexi Giannoulias's road to replace Barack Obama in the Senate from Illinois has just gotten even rockier. Not only is popular GOP Congressman Mark Kirk running against him, but his family's bank was seized by the government on suspicions of corruption. And now Democratic Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. may actually back Kirk.

Yes, the son of Jesse Jackson might back a Republican.

Politico is reporting this as it becomes obvious that Giannoulias may actually lose in this very blue state.

“I like Alexi Giannoulias, but I have great respect for Mark Kirk and his service to the people of Illinois,” Jackson told POLITICO.

Jackson and Kirk work together on the House Appropriations Committee, on which both are senior members of the subcommittee that provides foreign aid.
Let the games begin.

Republican gains in Hawaii are dramatic.

Hawaii's first congressional district is now in Republican hands, and Washington Democrats are sure to be planning "firing squads"for Colleen Hanabusa and Ed Case; the two Democrats who split the 100,000 Democratic vote, opening the path for Charles Djou, a certified Conservative.

Now I expect most Democrats and Liberals to blame Charles Djou's "victory" on the Democratic split, and on Hawaii's unique special election format. However, that would be a distraction from the real picture: Charles Djou increased Republican votes by more than 75% during a special election.

Don't believe me? Wrap your mind around these statistics:

2008 congressional election

(D) Abercrombie - 154,208 - 70.6%
(R) Steve Tataii - 38,115 - 17.4%
Other/Blank vote - 25,963 - 11.9%

2010 special election

(R) Charles Djou - 67,610 - 39.4%
(D) Democrats - 100,193 - 58.4%
Other/Blank vote - 3,614 - 2.2%

Charles Djou not only benefited from a "Democratic split" between Moderates and Liberals, but he increased the amount of Republican votes in Hawaii's first congressional district by 29,000 votes or by 75%, in a special election. That's a dramatic shift in just 18 months.

If Republicans can increase their vote total by 75% in Hawaii; a well known bastion of Democrat policies (exempting traditional marriage, which Hawaiians feel strongly about) and politicians, than what can Republicans do in Arkansas, North Dakota, Arizona and Nevada; states where Democrats are on the decline?

Congressman Djou's successful campaign increased Republican votes by 75% during a special congressional election, when most voters stay home (54% of registered voters participated in this special election). What will happen across America in November; when the American public declares liberalism dead on review? We can only hope, but I'm optimistic.

More Leftwing Blame on Tea Partiers for the Times Square Bombing

I know that no one gets tired of this, but we have some brilliant-- and I mean brilliant comments off of the left-wing site Crooks and Liars. So the original post said this:

You know, I don't want to jump to conclusions here, because that would make me too much like Matt Drudge. But if the car bomber was indeed a white guy in his 40s who didn't know the difference between ammonium nitrate and plain old fertilizer, I'm thinking it's gotta be a Beck Patriot who was trying to water the tree of liberty with... the blood of random Times Square tourists.

Okay, pretty stupid, right?

Now some of the fabulous comments:

They are getting more like the Taliban by the day. Know the American Taliban leaders by their dark suit uniforms, the lapel pin, the hair, the part out of the side of their heads [how do they do that?], the shoes [apparently very important cult symbol].

Tribal members are a bit harder to identify, but it gets easier with practice. It's real easy if you use racial profiling simply because they are almost all white, not that i'm advising this is any way!
It's real easy if you use age profiling simply because they are middle age or older [plus a few of their offspring]. There are a lot of members that thought they were going to be rich by following Bush down his rabbit hole, and they're crazy that they were thwarted.
Nothing makes the narcissist crazier than getting busted.

And:

$20 says it's a Teabagger wingnut... anyone who finds 'hope' in Sarah Palin and fears Obama's Socialistic agenda is likely smart enough to strap their Timex travel alarm clock to a bag of Turfbuilder Plus

and:

What Anti American party has been calling for the failure of this Presidency, what party is GUILTY of having this Country ATTACKED on its watch, what Party LIED us into a WAR, what party does NOT want the TRAILS held in New York, what party LIES ,Misinforms and manipulates the Truth on a daily bases, what party left us with a 1 Trillion dollar deficit, what party Socialized losses and Privatized Profits, what party every day Preaches, Talks and wants Nothing but HATRED and FEAR, what party want the PLUTOCRACY of America, oh their CRIMES are many more to include the present OIL SPILL in the GULZF with a typical RIGHT WING COWARDLY response.
I give you the GUTLES, SPINELESS, COWARDLY Right Wing Wackos called republicans and their Fear and Hate mongering tea baggers (hey Idiot tea baggers were are your drill baby drill tee shirts now you spineless racist Nazis, and like all good SPINELESS republicans these COWARDS will find away to blame everyone but themselves.
The bomber will be a Right Wing Wacko, who has ties to the republican party and the tea baggers. Please note Wacko Right Wing immediately reported it was the middle east. Look for some of the cameras not to be working and the tapes to be lost or damaged Right Wing Wacko land is now in Damage control mode. This was and is a attempt by the Right Wing to discredit the President and put the Plutocrats in direct POWER. The right wing machine is a SELL OUT Machine.

and:
they hate that a president is a black man even worse than they hate that he's a dem. then he turns out to be a fucking raygun dem bipartisanshit-seeking corporatist of the highest order.
many are pissed off, but the special kind of car-bomb pissed off belongs to rethuglyKKKans.
they are racists, not just crazy. it's an ugly word for an ugly, irrational mental disorder. it is also the truth.

and finally:

Fertilizer, gun locker, firecrackers and alarm clocks. It screams rightwing idiot to me. No self respecting terrorist would be that stupid.

Wow. It's almost like I wish I was a caricature of a right-winger and couldn't read.

HuffPo Comments: Tea Party, Palin, Behind NYC Car Bomb

A hat tip to JWF, whose website has a similar story. However, I've found some fairly incendiary comments from our friends at the Huffington Post-- blaming the Tea Party movement even before the NYPD announces the name of a suspect. The comments are from the story on a bomb scare in Pittsburgh.

If you have a weak stomach regarding the HuffPo losers, you may want to turn away.

These are from the story about the investigation on the Times Square bomb:

Lance Orton: Profile of a Hero

There were a lot of heroes in the defusing of the car bomb in Times Square last night and this morning. They include the police chief Ray Kelly, the bomb squad, the NYPD, and the FDNY. However, all of their efforts would have been in vain if not for one man.

A t-shirt vendor who tipped off the police.

This man has been talked about now in the NY Times, with a little bit about this hero who does not want to be named. A nametag identifies him as Lance Orton.

A little about his actions:

“I’m not going to say nothing, I’m not going to say nothing,” he said when first approached by a gaggle of reporters.

As he walked down the street, employees from Junior’s restaurant stood outside applauding him. He briefly entered the restaurant before heading toward 44th Street.

He walked with a limp, had a cane, wore a white fedora and had a hoop earring in his right ear.

When asked if he was proud of his actions, he said: “Of course, man. I’m a veteran. What do you think?”

Hero.
